Introduction
Each year we hold three shows in each of the following disciplines of Dressage, Showjumping, Ridden & In Hand Showing and Working Hunter. We also run a Mini One Day Event and Winter Dressage Shows

We also hold an annual Members Only Novice Show which is aimed at the genuine novice or less experienced rider who wants to have a go at something they haven’t done before. Participants are encouraged to enter all 5 classes (Tack & Turnout, Equitation, Best Riding Club Horse, Working Hunter and Showjumping). It is a very friendly and supportive atmosphere and the judge explains in each class exactly what he/she wants to see, and gives feedback after the results of the class are announced. A trophy is awarded to the highest placed member over all 5 classes.

Other activities include a sponsored ride, a beach ride, and of course the Annual Presentation Night where we celebrate the year’s successes with the trophy winners.

We also encourage all our members to join in team events. We regularly send teams to local and Area team dressage, showjumping and horse trials competitions. The teams are at all levels – Novice, Intermediate and Open – so if you would like to join a team, just put your name forward.

Riding Club Camp is an excellent opportunity to further your riding ability and to make new friends. and forms an important part of the club’s aim to provide a network of friendship and support to horse owners in the area.

Club Meetings
The Riding Club Committee usually meets on the third Tuesday in the month at the Clarence, Manchester Road, Greenfield at 7:30pm. Members are welcome to attend any meetings and to contribute to the discussion.

Please note our meetings are currently held virtually due to COVID restrictions.

Riding Club Camp
Camp involves 3 days of intensive work with your horse. Each day you will do showjumping, flatwork and cross-country supported by excellent quality trainers. On day 4 you go for a leisurely hack round the farm ride for you and your horse to relax!

You will be very well fed, and there may be evening activities to participate in (if you are still awake by then, of course!). It is a wonderful way of building up your partnership with your equine friend as not many of us have the opportunity to ride for three consecutive days with expert tuition. It is a chance to build some human friendships as well, and to get to know other O&DRC members a little better.

Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis, and it is only open to Members who are 18 years and over. Do come and join us for a wonderful time!

Team Competitions
O&DRC regularly enters teams in competitions for Showjumping, Dressage and Horse Trials. Often members are reluctant to put themselves forward for teams, fearing that they may not be good enough. O&DRC prides itself on giving its Members the opportunity to have a go at new activities. If you would like to try any of the team activities, please contact our Teams Managers and they will endeavour to put you with a group of similar standard.
