Unaffiliated Winter Dressage Show Information 2021


Oldham and District Riding Club will be holding a winter dressage series through Oct and Nov 2021.  The series will run over 3 shows and will consist of seven classes and a championship league with awards given to champions and reserve champions of each league. The following provides all the information you require for the series, you can read on or download the schedule via the button below.

Fairness Policy – Important
This show series is setup to afford riders the opportunity to bring on themselves and their mounts and keep active in the competitive sense during the winter. We have within this schedule rules for entry that affords a level playing field for all.

Number of Shows
There will be three shows scheduled
Show 1 – 3rd Oct,
Show 2 – 31st Oct*
Show 3 – 21st Nov. 

* Fancy Dress Option Show 2
The show scheduled for the 31st of Oct will include an option for you to ride in fancy dress (it’s halloween of course). Prizes will be given to riders on the day for the best halloween fancy dress from each class. More details about the prizes will be announced on FB and our website.

Class Rules
We strongly recommend that you compete in a class that suits you and your mount, we do not expect to see riders who have competed at a higher level competing in lower classes.

Classes and Tests
During the 3-show series we will use the following tests:
Intro A (2008)
Prelim 13 (2006)
Novice 27 (2007)
Elementary 44 (2002)
There will be seven classes during the series at Intro, Prelim, Novice and Elementary levels.

We strongly recommend that you compete at a level that suits you and your horse. We do not expect to see riders who have competed at a higher level competing in lower classes in a nominated championship class.

Class 1 Intro Lead Rein & Juniors

  • This class is open to all but you cannot nominate this class as your championship class if you have scored 67% or above in an Open Prelim Class. 
  • No horse may compete in this class if it has BD points.
  • If you nominate this class as your championship class you can enter other classes but will not be included in that classes league table.

Class 2 Intro Open

  • This class is open to all but you cannot nominate this class as your championship class if you have scored 67% or above in an Open Prelim Class. 
  • No horse may compete in this class if it has BD points.
  • If you nominate this class as your championship class you can enter other classes but will not be included in that classes league table.

Class 3 Prelim Junior

  • This class is open to all but you cannot nominate this class as your championship class if you have scored 67% or above in a Novice Class or above 
  • No horse may compete in this class if it has BD points.
  • If you nominate this class as your championship class you can enter other classes but will not be included in that classes league table.

Class 4 Prelim Restricted

  • This class is open to all but you cannot nominate this class as your championship class if you have scored 67% or above in an Open Prelim Class
  • No horse may compete in this class if it has BD points.
  • If you nominate this class as your championship class you can enter other classes but will not be included in that classes league table.

Class 5 Prelim Open

  • This class is open to all but you cannot nominate this class as your championship class if you have scored 67% or above in a Novice Class or above.
  • No horse may compete in this class if it has BD points at Novice Level or above
  • If you nominate this class as your championship class you can enter other classes but will not be included in that classes league table

Class 6 Novice

  • This class is open to all.
  • No horse may compete in this class if it has BD points at Elementary Level or above.
  • If you nominate this class as your championship class you can enter other classes but will not be included in that classes league table

Class 7 Elementary

  • This Class is open to all.
  • If you nominate this class as your championship class you can enter other classes but will not be included in that classes league table

Venue
The winter dressage series will be held at Higher Counthill Farm, Oldham, OL4 2PZ. The venue has fantastic arenas and facilities available.

The Series League Tables
When you enter the winter dressage series you will be entered into the winter dressage league table associated to the nominated class you pick when entering the series.

Juniors & Seniors
Juniors and seniors will be combined in all classes above Prelim

How You Score Points
Horse/Rider Combinations will gain the following points at each show:

1. No points for HC* entries or when riding in classes which are not your nominated championship league class.
2. No points are awarded for the usual club points system; this is a standalone system.
3. League tables will be presented on the O&DRC website and will be updated after each show.
4. Points are calculated for a horse rider combination.

Championship
The top 2 riders from each class league table, will be placed 1st and 2nd in their class league table on the day of the third show and will be awarded champion and reserve champion for the class. These awards will consist of a championship rosette and possibly prizes! (We will announce via FB and our website). 

HC Entries
If you are affected by the limitations set within the dressage rules then we welcome HC entries. The usual HC rules apply with regards to placings and awards, i.e. no placing and no points awarded. If the show is oversubscribed HC entries will have to be relinquished, refunds will be given.

Dressage Rules

  1. Junior riders will be combined with the seniors above prelim level.
  2. It is the competitor’s own responsibility to obtain copies of dressage tests from British Dressage (see www.britishdressage.co.uk)
  3. BD points will affect entries, see class rules above.
  4. These rules may change subject to the event organiser, competitors will be informed.
  5. Tack and turnout in accordance with BD guidelines. (Turnout excludes Show 2 Fancy Dress)
  6. Callers are allowed for all tests, ODRC cannot guarantee callers will be available on the day, if they are on site, competitors can request assistance through the show organiser.
  7. No spurs are allowed in the restricted classes.

Cancellation and Refunds
If a show is cancelled, refunds will be given, or your entry will be carried forward to the next show. Refunds will not be given for “no shows” or for notification of a “no show” less than 24 hours prior to the show, so minimum 09:00 Sat prior to show start. Refunds will be given within the cutoff period on production of a vet’s notice. If the how is cancelled it may be rescheduled. In the event of a refund the club will retain a 2.5% transaction fee, so your refund will be less than your entry fee. The club is charged this by the merchant we use and is not refundable to the club in the event of a refund.

COVID restrictions may have an effect on the shows, we will inform you of any changes.

Liability and Loss
Neither the Organisers nor the persons acting on behalf of ODRC accept liability for any loss, damage, accident, injury or illness to competitors, spectators or any person or property whatsoever. The Organisers of this event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the Organisers and all the Officials and Stewards at all times.

Communication
We use the Club Website, Club FB Page, Email and Text Messages to keep you informed. Due to the winter weather there is always a possibility of cancellation, in which case the primary method of immediate communication will be via text message, so please do supply a mobile telephone number during your booking.

We will also have an online results system that will update scores during the event. The scores will be available to view on the day https://www.odrc.co.uk/WD/ 
If you have a data connection you can view the scores and results online on your mobile device!

How to book your test(s)
Enter online via our events booking page, https://odrc.co.uk/product-category/shows/ entries close Wednesday prior to the event. Times will be available Friday online via https://www.odrc.co.uk/dressage. We do not charge a fee for booking online!

Entry Fees
Members £11 and Non-Members £15 (SDPC members £11, proof of membership required). We can only accept 65 entries per show day. Entries received above this level will be put on a waiting list for withdrawals.

Placings
Rosettes will be awarded on the day up to 6th place.

Showground Etiquette
1. Please ensure you clean the area around your trailer/horsebox of droppings, litter and hay prior to departure.
2. Parking as directed by stewards.

Objections
The Judge’s and the Committee’s decision shall be final on all matters during the event. Any objections are to be handed to the Secretary in writing within 30 minutes of the incident, with a deposit of £20 to be forfeited if the objection is not upheld.
